TURNING TECHNOLOGY INTO CAPABILITY
Imprimis, Inc. (i2) is a small business with the mission to solve problems through the effective use of technology….”turning technology into capability”.
While technology alone is not enough, it is often the major differentiator in performance and resource management (i.e. efficiency and cost). Imprimis uses its experience to develop products, enhance performance, and deliver solutions to improve your business, your people, and your life.
Imprimis’ history begins in 2004 with two brothers – Paul and Michael Semmens.
Paul is a retired Army Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Colonel and combat veteran of Desert Storm. He followed in the footsteps of their father, who was also an ADA Colonel. Upon retirement, Paul became a program manager working on missile defense technologies in the counter rocket artillery and missile (CRAM) program and the training program for Ground-based Mid-Course Defense (GMD).
Mike is a former Corporate VP at BDM International, a corporation eventually acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation. At BDM Mike was responsible for developing and managing business divisions in energy, information technology, manufacturing, and advanced instrumentation. Major programs included designing the CAD/CAM system for the B2 bomber, the initiation of the EDGAR program for the SEC, building totally automated factories for Morton Thiokol, Caterpillar, and developing manufacturing control designs for Ford Motor Company. He also was responsible for the state and local IT outsourcing business. Mike has also managed and arranged funding for a number of high-tech start-up companies. He was named Engineer of the Year in New Mexico, received the R&D 100 Award, and Leadership in Education from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Their combined engineering and operations backgrounds were ideal for “turning technology into capability”, integrating technology, operations, and learning systems to achieve high levels of performance within organizations.
Imprimis may be a small company but we’ve kept an eye toward the future. Our finance, accounting, human resources, and business systems are very mature for a small business. This prepares us for expansion as we move toward larger roles as a Prime contractor in the federal government and expand our commercial enterprises. We also maintain offices in Colorado Springs, Huntsville, and El Paso to stay close to our government partners for Missile Defense and Aviation projects.
In 2014, Imprimis celebrated 10 years in business. Typically, less than 34% of small businesses survive 10 yrs or more (source: US Dept of Commerce, US Small Business Administration). We are proud of our tenacity and accomplishments. Come see what this small business can do!
